Herve Pierre's Home, Creative Director for Carolina Herrera

This very decorative home belongs to Herve Pierre, Creative Director at Carolina Herrera, seen here striking a pose in his beautiful four-poster bed! Would I just love to roll around in one of those; I would probably never roll out of it. Eccentric decor isn't it? notice the tiny chair with some loo roll sitting in this last picture of his bathroom and the giant perfume bottles. Brilliant! {The Selby-image source}

Velvet luxury - 2010 Fall RTW - Rochas, Dolce&Gabbana and Jaeger

Black velvet and that little boy's smile, black velvet with that slow southern style, a new religion that'll bring ya to your knees, black velvet if you please...uhhm..hmmm.

View more velvet at asos.com and on the high street.

Peering into other people's homes

..in one of my favourite cities Berlin!, so my excitement was heightened when I discovered this German site Freunde von Freunde which showcases homes and working spaces belonging to creative people in Berlin. All quite quirky and original! I devoured the site and singled out a few pictures which intrigued me but there is so much more to see.

Chanel Fall Haute Couture 2010 at the Paris Grand Palais

Staged within the palatial glass-domed Paris Grand Palais and unveiled beneath the gaze of a behemothic gold lion came Chanel's Fall 2010 Couture show. (a sight to behold!) The setting inside the Grand Palace couldn't have been more magnificent to show off the fierce, enigmatic collection of frocks teaming with gold, velvet, embroiderey, bead work and more and more etc. {image source}

Spring ready-to-wear 2010 outfits with hot lips

Random pick from a collection of beautiful spring/summer outfits in the form of frills, puffs and harem pants from Dior, Basso & Brooke, Betsey Johnson, Luella, Issac Mizrahi and  Marc by Marc Jacobs. {source}. Issac Mizrahi's fifties-era Fred look, my favourite here, is just too cool for school!

Along came Mary

You might have noticed that I have a picture of Mary Portas, the retail expert, marketing genius, 'queen of the high street' stuck on my blog for the last few weeks. I have been an ardent fan of her BBC series Mary ‘Queen of Shops’ and was overjoyed to see her back on our screens, if only for 5 short episodes but this latest series has packed more crunch, bite, sensation.. leaving me gutted when the last of the 5th aired this Monday past. bo-hoo-hoo-hoo..

Mary is just up-there with my tele-heroes, Sir David Attenborough the naturalist and Iain Stewart the geologist whom I’ve learnt so much from but she’s a tad more special. She’s also at her best in this series, I think, as she pulls out all the stops and gives honest hard-hitting advice to 5 ailing shopkeepers; a bakery, ,greengrocers, hair saloon, home furnishings shop (you tube picks) and a DIY store-pulling them out of the doldrums and helping them turn their businesses around. Each shop get’s an overhaul, is redesigned with Mary’s top tips and eventually, reaps the rewards of increased profits. I find myself gobbling up her advice, admiring her righteousness and ogling at her ferocious ring-waving-hands but mostly cringing at those nail-biting moments when her shock retail therapy hits her victims on the head; equally, I revel in her warmth, wit and charm. She’s astute, admirable and downright stylish and oh! I will so miss you Mary!

True Scandinavian Contemporary Living at Pia Ulin

Pretty cool shots aren't they? I'm having a bit of a moment with interiors. This takes me back in time with the combination of wallpaper, vintage decor, clutter, parquet flooring and the shortage of furniture amongst other things. If you wanna gawk at more retro old school pictures, keep flipping here.  It just get's better!

Interior Photography by Roger Davies

The more random, the better- a room with lots of odd pieces of furniture; old, new, modern sitting together feels more authentic; for me, it's basically anything that's upholstered, old desks, antique wooden chairs, mirrors etc . Interior photographer Roger Davies captures some beautiful snapshots of rooms and various corners here.
